Healthy Game Day Meatballs

 

Hosting a game day party is one of the most enjoyable aspects of watching the Big Game. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just taking in the ambiance, it’s a terrific time to get together with friends and family for some fun, football, and, most importantly… food.

You don’t have to give up healthy food just because it’s the Big Game. You may enjoy the game day without consuming fatty, oily, or heavy foods. A healthy dish like these lean meatballs is sure to score a touchdown with your guests without incurring a diet penalty.

Ingredients:

1 pound of super lean ground pork (95 percent fat-free)
1 pound ground turkey
1 beaten egg
4 minced garlic cloves
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
1 tbsp. dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
12 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
12 cup ready-made marinara sauce

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with foil and gently coat with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the meats, egg, garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well with your hands.
  3. Shape the mixture into 24 meatballs (about the size of a ping pong ball) and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20-22 minutes, or until thoroughly done.
  4. To add some spiciness, serve with ¼ cup of marinara sauce.

Servings: 6 (24 meatballs)
